Sunday Cemetery Series Kickoff!

The Maine Ghost Hunters organization is incredibly lucky to have our very own taphophile as one of our members.  MGH-WindyK isn't just an MGH investigator, media team member, and support staff & team specialist (she's a professional photographer).  Oh no, she's also got this unique little penchant for a thing called "taphophilia".  Don't know what that is?  Well let us tell you – it's a love for all things related to death.  This includes burial practices, graveyard art, mourning styles, funerary processes, cemeteries, and everything in between.

So, naturally, when we met MGH-WindyK for the very first time (at Eastern Cemetery in 2009) it was only natural that she'd wind up leading us through the cemetery after we ran out of things to say about the place.  Sure as the sun shines, that's the honest truth!  She came to join us on a brand new meetup series we started, called "The Sunday Cemetery Series" and before too long she had shamelessly confessed that her passion for cemeteries was likely unrivaled by anyone we knew in person, and she was right.

On Sunday June 12, 2011 we returned to the oldest cemetery in the city of Portland for a well-prepared tour by Windy.  Her research was amazingly detailed, historically intriguing, and the artwork involved, in the headstones we were led to, is simply stunning.

The weather was rainy and dreary but our group of meetup members are hardcore!  We battled the elements together and had a blast doing it.  We hope you'll join us for our future Sunday Cemetery Series tours, they're definitely worth it!
